Arithmetic progression

By writing here i am refreshing my learning as well along with sharing with you a learning. Till now I have shared with you learning on various math topics and I am enjoying this exercise as through this I am not only helping you but also refreshing my own knowledge. Today we will move on with arithmetic progression.

When Quantities increase or decrease with a common difference we say it being in an arithmetic progression.

Further arithmetic mean is a term related to arithmetic progression. Suppose a,x,b is in arithmetic progression, then a is the arithmetic mean between the two extremes a and b.

Similarly we also have geometric progression and geometric mean, which we will discuss some other day. Till then enjoy arithmetic progression.

Mean, median and mode

Today we will learn something new, we will learn about three things today, mean, median and mode. You always work on mean median mode range worksheets, So in order to refresh your learning on these three concepts, i am into this piece of writing.

Following is the mean median mode definitions for your better understanding:

When some data is colleted, we have certain numbers which represent the characteristics of the data, around which the data appears to be concentrated; we call such numbers as the measures of central tendency. There are three measures of central tendency. (i) Mean (ii) Median and (iii) Mode. The mean or arithmetic mean is a collection of numbers is the sum of all of numbers in the list divided by the number of items in a list. The median is the middle term of a group of data. Mode is the most repeated term in a group of data.

I hope when you work on mean, mode and median now, you know what each means exactly. This will help you to know better and work better. Next time we will try to move on to some other concepts of math.

Definitions

Math is one of the subjects which mostly all the students find it tough. I was one of these students too. I did not enjoyed math and so i can well understand what they go through while dealing with math. So today i will give some math definitions for kids, so that you get well acquitted with the subject itself.

Further we will learn some algebra terms but before that following are few math definitions:

Addition means sum of two quantities. The sign used to do addition is ‘+ ‘.

Subtraction means difference of two quantities. The sign used to do subtraction is ‘‘.

Division means sharing a number into equal parts. The sign used to do division is ‘/’.

Multiplication means a number is added to itself a number of times. The sign used to do multiplication is ‘x’ or sometimes ‘*’.

These are the basic definitions of math. Now lets move on to know some algebra terms. Following are few basic algebra terms:

Exponents and Radicals
Factoring Polynomials

Linear Equations

Complex Numbers

Quadratic Equations

So here is some basic knowledge on math. I am sure this will help in your first step with math. Next time we will move on to other topics.

Something new about math

I was not very good at math when i was in school and now i am quite good at it and that is why may be possible that whenever i hear a new term on math, i start exploring it. The same curiosity brought me deal with permutations and combinations. I am sure you will enjoy this learning.

The different arrangements that can be made with a given number of things taking some or all of them at a time are called permutations. Permutation formula is given below:

Formula: nPk = n!/(n-k)!= n (n-1) (n-2)….. (n-k+1).

The symbol nPr or P(n,r) is used to denote the number of permutations of n things taken r at a time.

The selection of a number of things taking some or all of them at a time is called combinations.
The number of ways of selecting r things out of n dissimilar things is denoted by C(n, r) or nCr.

This was something on permutations and combination. I will move on to other concepts of math further, till then you enjoy this learning and do posts your feedback.

Prime numbers

I always found prime numbers interesting. Not because it seemed easy for me but because i had a quality basic learning on prime numbers and that made my base stronger. Yesterday my niece asked me to get the list of prime numbers to 100 and thus i recalled my interests on prime numbers.

Prime numbers are those which are exactly divided by only 1 and itself. As for examples: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13...... So any prime numbers have only two factors and that is 1 and itself. I explained this to her and said that following this she can get prime numbers to 1000 and even more.

However, i did made the list of prime numbers for her. And i must say one thing, she is now quite good with prime numbers and she can make out the prime numbers herself.

This is how i made prime numbers easy for her and also a bit interesting. You too should try the same thing. I bet you will enjoy and also the younger ones.

Algebraic help

These days i have got a new job and that is to teach my niece every night. I say it is not that easy to deal with today's kids. I need to refresh all my learning before making her learn in order to avoid embarrassing situation in front of her. Yesterday she asked me to help her as an algebraic equation solver and for that i had to brush up my knowledge on algebra first. Then i thought it would not be a bad idea to share with you all about my experience with algebra problems. As a result, i am writing it here.

My niece wanted to know about the algebraic formulas for shapes and so i made list of it to make it easy for her. Want to check the list, well it is as follows:

Algebraic formula for:
Square: a2
Rectangle: l*w
Triangle: b*h
Rhombus: 1/2*a*b
Parallelogram: b*h
Trapezoid: 1/2(a+b)h

So this was the list which i made for her and now she is finding it quite easy to move on with these formulas. I am sure you too will be profited with this writing. Hoping for the best, i will conclude today.

Math help

I have always explored with my knowledge and tried to serve you help on math, i have the same intention today also. Today i will try to give you some quality information on how to get math answers step by step.

In order to get math answers step by step, it is very important that you know the rules to solve step by step and are familiar with the problems. Suppose you are working on any logarithm problem, the very important thing is that you should know differentiation rules of algorithm first and then start solving it.

Likewise it is the same with algebra, geometry, trigonometry etc. You always need to know the rules and then only it will be possible for you to work on smoothly with math. There is a saying, practice makes a man perfect and this comes true with math. So start practicing and gain victory over math.
